The 5th of 7 children, Dr. Matt grew up outside of Lorain in the small town of Vermilion, Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie. Matt was always intrigued by dentists; during his senior year at Fireland’s high school, he made the decision to become a dentist. Armed with a strong work ethic and a pursuit for perfection, Dr. Stempowski graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with B.A. and B.S. degree in Zoology. He then moved to Columbus to learn from the great dentists at Ohio State University, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. After completing a general practice residency in dentistry at Balboa Hospital in San Diego, Dr. Stempowski served as the dental officer on board the USS Peleliu in the United States Navy.
In 2000, Dr. Stempowski moved back home to Ohio, and in 2001 opened his dentist practice in Lorain. His practice philosophy is simple- provide the highest quality of care to his patients using modern technology in a comfortable, relaxing environment. Dr. Stempowski truly enjoys being a dentist, and has assembled a staff that reflects his commitment to dentistry, and they are prepared to provide you with the absolute best in oral care and dental hygiene to ensure you have the healthiest teeth and gums possible, with a beautifully bright smile.
To advance his skills in both general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Stempowski has trained with the best and brightest dentists in the field, taking post-graduate courses at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. He is certified in Invisalign and KOR in-office teeth whitening. And, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and the Lorain County Dental Society.
Outside of the dentist office, Dr. Stempowski is an avid sports fan, especially of Ohio State football. He enjoys golfing and bowling and is in the process of restoring his Mustang convertible. Dr. Stempowski lives in Avon Lake with his beautiful new puppy, Woody.
